British Values at Swinefleet

At Swinefleet we recognise the importance of everybody understanding what British Values are. We do this in lots of different ways.

We are currently working on achieving the Investors in Pupils' Award. This involves everybody working together as part of a team to make our school community the best it can be.

We hold regular assemblies and collective worship sessions which explore the faiths of communities who are part of the British Isles and the world.

We host guest speakers who help us to explore the values of our society like democracy and the rule of law.

Andrew Percy MP

Helping the children to understand the importance of British values is an important aspect of our work in schools. To help our children we invited the Honourable Andrew Percy MP to school to explain about how parliament works and what he does.

The children carried out reseach in to parliament and our democratic system and found a range of interesting facts such as;

We live in a parliamentary democracy which means we get a chance to vote for our MPs.

Be The Best

Our Be the Best that We Can Be programme helped all the children to understand the importance of trying their best, being part of a team and wanting to succeed in life.

To launch the programme we took all the children to Reedness Primary School where Brendan Reilly an Olympic high jumper inspired the children with his talk of his achievements.

He spent time in the classrooms as the children thought about what their dreams were for the future.

It was a truly inspiring morning and all the children are keen to show how they can Be the Best! We have built on this experience and every week we have an inspiring Be the Best Assembly when the children can share their successes and achievements for that week.
