Who teaches us?

In Rubies, FS1, FS2 and Year Ones are taught by Mrs Hall,  with Miss Haver (Nursery Nurse). They are supported by Miss Wilks on a Monday and Tuesday morning. Mrs Harrison also teaches us on a Thursday afternoon.

Our learning

This half term we are focussing on the topic 'Fairytales'. We will be growing plants in science, learning about fairytales in English, in geography we will be thinking about the weather.

Who are we?

The Rubies class is made up of children from FS1, FS2 and Year One. In total we have 21 members.

Always Homework

In Rubies, we are expected to always:

- Work towards our SMIRF targets

- Read at least 3 times a week

- Learn our spellings (sent out on a Friday to be tested on the following Friday)

Provision for FS1

We offer provision for FS1 all day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We also offer provision on a Thursday and Friday morning. Provision is run across the days and is optional to the sessions which you indicate on your form. Any changes to the sessions agreed upon must be indicated as soon as possible, unless it is an emergency.

Funding is available for fifteen free hours which can be shared across settings. If you wish to add to those hours a fee of £3.00 an hour is charged as well as a small charge of £2.00 should your child require a school dinner, but is more than welcome to bring a packed lunch.

Also on entry to our FS1 unit, you will be asked to complete a Provision agreement.

A copy of both these  forms can be found below.

Our Topics

FS1 will be taught through children's interests, with a different focus every two weeks.

FS2 and Year One will study the following topics:

Autumn 1 - The Great Outdoors

Autumn 2 - Around the World

Spring 1 - All About Me

Spring 2 - Fairytales

Our Class Target

Our target this half term:

To learn to share our learning environment and look after it.

Important Documents

In EYFS we follow the Development Matters, which breaks down children's learning into age bands. A copy can be seen below. On the entry of any child into EYFS, we encourage parents to have a look at the document "What to expect, when"  This document brakes down Development Matters into "I Can" statements.
